He has focused on photographic history, and has published several books on Fremantle (Old Fremantle, Old Fremantle Childhood, and Fremantle The Immigration Story) and Albany (Old Albany), Western Australia. John believes that in this fast paced highly coloured visual world, we can learn a lot from the carefully crafted, still, and contemplative images of the past.
