Meant for me

Cote, Lyn2025
Large Print
America has just entered the First World War and Chloe must learn how to make her own way in 1917 New York City - a place nothing like home. Soon Chloe is swept up in the heady changes of the young 20th century. The NAACP moves forward, as does the women's crusade to gain the vote. Chloe becomes the independent woman she never thought possible. But then the unexpected forces her to return home. Even in the South, the 1920s are roaring with flappers, speakeasies and the Charleston. For a time Chloe loses her way - a reluctant member of the "Lost Generation" in postwar America. While a new man pursues her, she realizes Roarke is the one she longs for. But damaged by World War I, Roarke keeps her more than an arm's length away. Will she ever be able to connect with the man she hopes could help her make sense of her life, her future? As she recalls the woman she once was, she strives to become the woman she wants to be. And help the man she loves. Will she succeed?
